The Challenge

High Performance Driving School came to us after a poor experience with a previous agency that had delivered a generic WordPress theme with minimal customisation and no SEO work. The site was slow, looked identical to several competitors using the same theme, and was ranking for nothing in Derby. The client had also been locked into a proprietary page builder that made basic updates frustrating without technical help.

They specifically needed to stay on WordPress — their in-house admin needed to update course prices, add student success stories, and publish FAQs without calling a developer every time.

The Solution

We built a fully custom WordPress theme from scratch — no page builder, no premium theme framework, just clean PHP and CSS written specifically for this site. Page load time dropped from 6.8 seconds on the old site to under 1.8 seconds, which had an immediate positive effect on both bounce rate and search rankings.

The custom admin panels expose only the fields the client actually needs — course prices, testimonials, FAQs and blog posts — without the overwhelming complexity of a full block editor. The site ranked on page one for "driving school Derby" within four months of launch without any paid advertising, purely through better technical SEO and locally relevant content.
