Political Party in Gambia
Progress Gambia needed a credible online presence ahead of a national election cycle. The challenge was not just design — it was infrastructure. A large proportion of their target audience accesses the internet on 2G and 3G mobile connections with limited data allowances, so a site that loaded slowly or consumed excessive data would simply not reach the people it needed to reach.
The site also needed to be maintainable by a non-technical communications team in a country with limited local web development support — meaning any CMS had to be genuinely straightforward to operate without ongoing training.
We built mobile-first and performance-first throughout. Every image was compressed and served in next-generation formats, JavaScript was kept to the absolute minimum required, and server-side caching was configured to serve pre-built pages rather than generating them dynamically on every request. The result was a sub-two-second load time on a simulated 3G connection — fast enough to retain mobile users who would have abandoned a slower site.
WordPress was chosen for its familiarity and stripped back to only the plugins the team genuinely needed. The admin workflow was documented with screenshots tailored to their specific tasks — publishing news updates, uploading speeches, updating policy pages — so the comms team could operate independently from day one. The site launched on schedule ahead of the campaign period.
Let's discuss how we can help bring your vision to life.
