Laravel Developer Derby — Production-Grade PHP
Clean, Conventional Laravel — Built to Hand Off
Laravel is our default framework. Most of the web apps in our portfolio run on it — including Hirepay payroll and Hirezy Online recruitment platform.
Why Laravel? Because most UK businesses need software that ships fast, is maintainable by other developers, runs cheaply on commodity hosting and integrates cleanly with everything from Stripe to Xero. Laravel does all of that with less ceremony than Node, more conventions than Python frameworks and a larger UK developer pool than Rails. For broader build context see our web app development Derby page, or our Laravel work for Nottingham and Leicester organisations.
- Clean, conventional Laravel — no clever hacks
- Test-covered business-critical paths (Pest, PHPUnit)
- Documented APIs (Scribe, Swagger)
- Future developers can take over within a day

Laravel Services for Derby and UK Clients
Whether you are building from scratch or rescuing an existing codebase — here is the work we do.
Custom Laravel Apps
Bespoke applications from scratch — discovery, architecture, build, deploy. Laravel + Inertia, Laravel + Livewire, or pure API-first Laravel with a React/Next frontend. Pricing on our web app development Derby page.
Laravel API Development
REST and GraphQL APIs — Xero, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Salesforce, Stripe Connect integrations. API versioning, rate limiting, OAuth/Sanctum auth, request validation and full Scribe/Swagger documentation.
Filament Admin Panels
Filament cuts admin build time roughly in half versus hand-rolled Blade. Common Derby use cases: internal operations dashboards, B2B portals and content management for custom-coded sites.
Laravel Takeovers & Audits
We regularly take over Laravel codebases. Audits cover framework version, code quality, test coverage, security vulnerabilities, performance bottlenecks and schema health. From £750.
Performance Optimisation
N+1 queries, missing indexes, no caching, inefficient eager loading, unoptimised views — most Derby clients see 5–20x speed improvements on their slowest endpoints after our work.
Maintenance & Upgrades
Monthly retainers from £3,000/month covering feature work, framework upgrades, security patches and infrastructure. Many Derby Laravel clients stay with us for years post-launch.
How We Build Production Laravel Apps
A typical Webgenix Laravel app uses these technologies — chosen because they ship fast and hand over cleanly.
Laravel 12 + PHP 8.3
Latest stable release. We also maintain Laravel 9/10/11 codebases.
Inertia + Vue/React
Or Livewire for lighter admin areas. Filament for CRUD-heavy panels.
MySQL 8 / PostgreSQL 16
With proper indexes and foreign key constraints. Redis for caching and queues.
Forge + DigitalOcean
Or AWS / Hetzner for larger projects. GitHub Actions for CI/CD, Sentry for errors.
Laravel Developer Derby FAQs
Laravel development costs in Derby vary by scope. Lean MVPs start at £6,500. Standard applications fall in the £15,000–£35,000 range. Full SaaS platforms start at £30,000 and can run to £100,000+ for complex multi-tenant systems. Audits and code reviews start at £750.
We build on the latest stable Laravel release — currently Laravel 12. New projects ship on the most recent LTS where appropriate, or the latest non-LTS for clients who want bleeding-edge framework features. We also maintain plenty of older Laravel codebases (9, 10, 11) and routinely upgrade them.
Yes — Laravel upgrades from version 5/6/7/8 onto current versions are a regular project type. Older upgrades (5.x to 11/12) typically take 2–6 weeks depending on package dependencies, custom code and test coverage. We always audit first and quote a fixed price.
Both, depending on the project. Livewire is great for admin panels, internal tools and forms-heavy interfaces — lower JavaScript overhead, simpler to maintain. Inertia + Vue or React suits richer client-side experiences and SaaS dashboards. For very lean admin work we increasingly default to Filament (which is built on Livewire).
No. We deploy your Laravel app to your hosting account — AWS, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, Linode or any VPS provider you prefer. You own the servers, the domain and the deployment pipeline. If you want managed hosting through us we offer that, but it is opt-in not lock-in.
